Founded in 1990 by Colleen McEvoy, BRIGHT PROMISE is backed with over 30 years in the horse industry. Colleen started riding at age 7 in Santa Barbara, CA. She learned extensively through the United States Pony Club and dressage instruction, and showed successfully in hunter and equitation divisions on her beloved mare, "Bright Promise". She began teaching at age 13, giving beginner lessons on a grey Welsh pony. At the age of 18 she, and friend Martha, started their own lesson and horse training business at Martha's father's farm in Santa Barbara. Colleen has had many years of experience "breaking" young horses for the racetrack and caring for injured race horses. She also spent over 15 years exercising racehorses at Santa Anita, Hollywood Park and Del  Mar and was even fortunate enough to ride in three races! Eventually, her love for teaching and training horses brought her back to open Bright Promise Horse Training and School of Riding. She takes great pride in turning out knowledgeable and caring horsepeople who love and respect their horses and who can ride skillfully and safely.
